Spokane has a local art magazine that started in 2016.
It is called Art Chowder.
I have been getting it via mail since issue 6. Over the years it has grown and expanded to the entire Pacific Northwest being covered and not just Spokane. Still, it started here in Spokane, WA and most the things covered are within a reasonable distance from Spokane.
It is a fun read with interviews with artists, writers, poets, offerings on stage from local theater thespians/writers, and food creators. Lots of photos of the creations and also QR codes to get to websites of the artists and places included in the articles. It is fun to get in the mail and is also available in some bookstores. You can also get a subscription so you do not miss a copy. Single issues are $7.95 ($9.75 for Canada) and annual subscriptions are $19.00. Not bad for a paper magazine.
I like to read the articles on artists that catch my eye within the pages and get inspired. Maybe it will inspire you too if you pick up a copy?
I am plotting to get back to painting and may do so on a smaller scale this weekend using watercolours. It is less mess and room needed to paint even though I am getting the urge to acrylic paint.
Yes, I do abstract watercolours. I just am not into the natural, landscape/animal/people/cityscape watercolour. I have no desire to develop the knack for it. So, that is my plans for the weekend if all goes as I hope.
